Sensing#

The Sensing pages collect the blocks that let a VEX IQ (2nd gen) robot detect its surroundings and respond while a project is running. Start here when you want to read Brain input, detect touch, measure distance, or use sensor feedback in autonomous and driver projects.

  • Brain Sensing - Checks screen cursor position, battery level, and Brain button presses.

  • Bumper Switch - Detects whether a Bumper Switch is currently pressed.

  • Touch LED - Detects touch and controls the color, brightness, and fade of the Touch LED.

  • Gyro Sensor - Measures rotational movement to track how far the robot has turned and which direction it is facing.

  • Color Sensor - Detects colors, hue, brightness, and whether an object is present.

  • Distance Sensor - Measures object distance, velocity, size, and proximity.

  • Optical Sensor - Detects objects, colors, hue, and brightness.
