Sensors#
The Sensors pages include all the blocks that allow your VEX IQ (2nd gen) robot to detect and respond to its environment. These blocks report data such as color, distance, orientation, touch, and motion status—enabling sensor-based control and interactivity in both autonomous and driver programs.
Brain Sensing – Checks screen cursor position, battery level, and Brain button presses.
Motor Sensing – Reports Smart Motor status, including velocity, position, current, and whether the motor is spinning.
Drivetrain Sensing – Monitors drivetrain heading, rotation, velocity, and stopping behavior.
Bumper Switch – Detects whether a Bumper Sensor is currently pressed.
Touch LED – Detects touch and controls the color, brightness, and fade of the Touch LED.
Color Sensor – Detects colors, hue, brightness, and whether an object is present.
Distance Sensor – Measures object distance, velocity, size, and proximity.
Optical Sensor – Detects objects, colors, hue, brightness, and gestures; can switch between color and gesture modes.
