3-Wire Devices#
3-Wire devices connect to the three-pin ports on the V5 Brain or on a 3-Wire Expander. These devices communicate using simple analog or digital signals.
Sensors
Accelerometer - Measures acceleration and tilt along multiple axes.
Bumper Switch - Detects collisions and contact with a spring-loaded switch.
Encoder - Measures the rotational position and direction of a shaft.
Gyro Sensor - Measures rotation rate to track turns and heading.
Light Sensor - Measures ambient light intensity.
Limit Switch - Detects contact at the end of a mechanism’s range of motion.
Line Tracker - Detects light reflection differences for line following.
Potentiometer - Measures the angular position of a shaft, up to 270 degrees.
Range Finder - Measures distance to objects using ultrasonic sound waves.
Motors and Actuators
Motor 393 - A legacy DC motor from VEX EDR systems.
Servo Motor - Rotates a mechanism to a specific angle and holds it.
LED Indicator
LED Indicator - Turns an LED on or off.
Digital I/O
Digital In - Reads high/low signals from external devices.
Digital Out - Sends high/low signals to control external devices.
