Smart Port Devices#

Smart Port Devices connect directly to the IQ (2nd gen) Brain through its Smart Ports. These devices expand your robot’s capabilities by enabling sensing, motion control, and advanced feedback systems.

Smart Port sensors provide real-time environmental and motion data that your robot can use for decision-making and control.

  • Distance Sensor – Measure the distance between the sensor and nearby objects with 1st and 2nd Gen Distance Sensors.

  • Optical Sensor – Detect color, brightness, and proximity to objects.

  • AI Vision Sensor – Detect and classify objects using AI-based vision processing.

  • Vision Sensor – Detect and track color signatures within its field of view.

  • Bumper Sensor – Utilize the Bumper Switch.

  • Touch LED Sensor – Change colors and interact with the Touch LED.

  • Gyro Sensor – Track and modify the robot’s orientation and heading.

  • Color Sensor – Detect colors, hues, and brightness levels of objects.

In addition to the devices listed above, IQ (2nd gen) Smart Motors also connect through Smart Ports. See the Motion documentation for motor-specific APIs.
