VEXcode VR Playgrounds are virtual, map-based environments where you can code a virtual robot to complete goals, solve puzzles, and explore coding concepts. Playgrounds come in three tiers: Free, Enhanced, and Premium. For further information about the VEXcode VR license tiers and what they offer, visit the VEX Robotics website.

In the Playground Selection window, each tier is identified by its logo: Free Playgrounds display a white VR logo, Enhanced display a silver VR logo, and Premium display a gold VR logo:

Free Playgrounds#

Free Playgrounds are available to all users. Every Free Playground takes place on a 2000 × 2000 mm map and uses the same standard robot configuration, and offers a wide range of challenges — from drawing and maze navigation to disk sorting and pixel art — making them a great starting point for coders of all experience levels.

Enhanced Playgrounds#

Enhanced Playgrounds build on their Free counterparts by introducing more advanced mechanics on new maps, additional goals, and expanded challenges. Accessing Enhanced Playgrounds requires a class code available with a VEXcode VR Enhanced license.

Premium Playgrounds#

Premium Playgrounds offer the most advanced challenges and mechanics. Each one features its own unique map, a custom robot configuration with components not found in Free Playgrounds, and dedicated Blocks and Python APIs built specifically for that environment. Premium Playgrounds also include competition playgrounds based on real VEX Robotics events, as well as unique standalone experiences like Rover Rescue and the GO Competition Mars Math Expedition. Like Enhanced Playgrounds, accessing Premium Playgrounds requires a class code available with a VEXcode VR Premium license.
