Flight Safety with the Drone

This tutorial walks you through the safety checks to complete before and during every flight with the VEX AIR Drone. By the end, you’ll have a safe flight area and everyone nearby will be ready.

  1. Remove any loose or light objects from the flight area.

  1. Tie back long hair before any flight, so it cannot get caught in the propellers.

  1. Never touch the drone while it is flying. The spinning propellers are dangerous, and touching the drone can make it unstable.

  1. Make sure all pilots know how to use the emergency stop. Pressing the Propeller Lock and Takeoff & Land buttons at the same time will immediately stop the motors, and the drone will fall to the ground.

  1. Make sure all pilots understand the Propeller Lock. When the Propeller Lock is active, the drone’s propellers will not spin, which prevents the motors from starting by accident. See Using the VEX AIR Drone Propeller Lock for more details.
